2026 Gauteng Closed Chess Championship: New Venue

♟️ NEW VENUE — YOUR SAFETY COMES FIRST! ♟️

The 2026 Gauteng Closed Chess Championships on 17 October 2026 will now take place at St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls, Kruger Street, Boksburg.

Following safety concerns in and around Kempton Park, we carefully considered the wellbeing of our players and families and decided to relocate the tournament. We want our entire chess community to feel comfortable attending and enjoy the day with peace of mind.

St Dominic’s has welcomed us with open arms, and we are deeply grateful for their kindness and support. With excellent security, ample parking and beautiful facilities, the school offers a wonderful setting for our players and everyone joining us on the day. 💙👑

🚗 PARKING AND ACCESS
Parents and players must enter through Gates 5 and 6 on St Dominic Road, on the eastern perimeter of the school.

There is so much to look forward to! Our sponsor, MoFaya, is planning exciting activities, chess challenges and little prizes between rounds to help make this a tournament to remember. 🔥♟️
